E-Bike Classes 1, 2, and 3 Explained

In the US three-class system: Class 1 is pedal-assist up to 20 mph, Class 2 adds a throttle up to 20 mph, and Class 3 is pedal-assist up to 28 mph. For most commuters, Class 1 or 3 offers the widest trail and path access; Class 2 throttles are handy but restricted in more places.
