HUB
Car-Free and Lower-Car Living
Going fully car-free is not realistic for everyone, and we will not pretend otherwise. But “drive less” almost always is. This hub is about the practical middle path: combining transit, walking, and an e-bike to cut car dependence, starting with the biggest easy win, dropping from two cars to one.

The realistic path
Start by tracking one week of trips. You will likely find that most are short, local, and easily done by bike or transit, while a minority genuinely need a car. Replace the easy ones first. For many two-car households, the second car is the obvious cut: its insurance, depreciation, and registration vanish, and an e-bike plus the occasional rental or rideshare fills the gap for a fraction of the cost.
