Illustration comparing transport costs as barsRun the real numbersWhat a car costs, versus what replaces it.

Averages are a starting point; your situation is what matters. These free calculators let you replace our assumptions with your own numbers, because the honest answer to “should I do this?” depends on your car, your commute, and your electricity rate, not on a national average.

How to get an honest answer out of a calculator

Any cost comparison can be rigged by choosing flattering assumptions, so here is how to keep yourself honest:

  • Use your real insurance and fuel numbers, not national averages. Pull the actual figures from your statements.
  • Include depreciation. It is the largest single cost of owning a car and the easiest to forget because you never write a cheque for it.
  • Include the e-bike’s real costs too: gear, maintenance, and an eventual battery replacement. A comparison that omits those is marketing, not math.
  • Compare like for like. If a bike only replaces some of your trips, model that, rather than pretending the car disappears entirely.

Our calculators are estimates for comparison, not financial advice. They are meant to get you to the right order of magnitude and a defensible decision, not to the penny.
