About Sustainable Transportation
We help people cut the cost and the carbon of getting around, one honest recommendation at a time. Our worldview is simple: drive less, electrify the rest. We test what we recommend, we show our math, and we always tell you who a product is not for.
Our worldview
Transportation is the largest single source of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States. The good news is that the biggest wins are also the ones that save you the most money: replacing short car trips with a bike, and electrifying the trips you cannot replace. We are not purists. We do not think everyone can or should go car-free tomorrow. We think most people can drive meaningfully less, spend meaningfully less, and be happier for it, and we build tools and guides to make that easy.

How we test
Our methodology is the same on every buying guide:
- We buy or borrow, and we say which. When a manufacturer loans a unit, we disclose it, and a loan never earns a better score.
- We use products as real users do, for weeks, not an afternoon. E-bikes get ridden as daily commuters; chargers get installed and lived with.
- We measure, not just eyeball. Range, charge time, weight, and stopping feel are recorded, and we report measured numbers against manufacturer claims.
- We score against fixed criteria so picks are comparable, and we publish the honest con for every recommendation.
- We say who it is not for. Every commercial guide includes a “who this is NOT for” section.
When we have not tested something first-hand, we say so plainly and label it as research rather than testing. We would rather tell you what we do not know than pretend otherwise.
